In order to maintain or fulfill the needs and standards of living, people will get involved in various types of activities and jobs in an organization to earn. Stress, dissatisfaction, workload, and poor working conditions majorly affect the job performance of individual personnel and result in burnout. Workplace burnout has been acknowledged as one of the problems that leave professionals feeling exhausted, drained, and ineffective. It doesn’t only affect the person mentally but also affects the physical health of a person. It has nowadays become very important to be aware of the concern regarding workplace burnout as it can leave severe problems like depression, low self-esteem, and so on. However, we can overcome this problem by taking simple preventions and increasing our self-care.

“Our bodies are our garden to which our wills are gardeners.” — William Shakespeare

We all are familiar with Bill Gates and know that he is famous for a lot of innovations and ideas. One of the ideas that he has given is about “Think Week”. Gates spends a week in the remote wilderness to sort out the big issues facing him and his company. Some of his most valuable ideas, both technologically and philanthropically speaking, have come from these self-imposed thought retreats. The point that I am trying to establish here is that giving this space to himself helps him from burning out and understanding the problems more clearly. Through vacations, we often see relaxation and are also ideal opportunities for self-reflection.

Another important part of prevention and self-care is “meditation”; studies show meditation can reduce anxiety, alleviate feelings of depression, and calm the nervous system. Meditation is beneficial, no matter how much or how often you do it. A ten-minute meditation is a powerful way to start your day, and a quick two-minute meditation between meetings can also help. You can come up with built-in meditation routines designed to help you get the most out of your experience, whether you have five minutes or an hour to spare. This can keep you fresh and energized throughout the day at your workplace and in making decisions.

Self-Care is very important in life unless you won’t care and love your own body and mind you can’t be in peace. A firm belief in yourself helps you to cope with the problems which occur by being stressed and thinking that you can’t meet the demands of the workplace which eventually results in burning out.
